AUSTIN, Texas – July 5, 2023 – The Hanger Foundation awarded its first round of 2023 Empowerment Grants, giving a total of $127,500 to 14 non-profit organizations. Grant recipients include local and national organizations serving a variety of communities, including repeat and new award recipients.
Congratulations to the 2023 Hanger Foundation Empowerment Community Grant Recipients:
The programs funded include Quality of Life Plus (QL+). QL+ provides innovative adaptations and assistive technology designed to help disabled veterans and first responders achieve their personal goals in work, recreation and day-to-day activities. Mark Robbins, Executive Director of QL+, said, “The Quality of Life Plus Program will use this generous grant to support engineering students at the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Texas at San Antonio in designing and building assistive devices for disabled veterans and first responders. QL+ is known for creative projects like modifying cross country skis for Paralympic athletes and building automated lifts for adaptive athletes to move kayaks, bikes, and other items more easily. We look forward to seeing what projects the new school year will bring thanks to the funding from the Hanger Foundation.”
The mission of the Hanger Foundation is to empower people with physical challenges to live life as fully as possible.
